Community

Princeton Sports is proud to be an active participant and supporter of the Maryland race community! We support over a dozen events every year, and sponsor major races in the Columbia area, including the Columbia Triathlon, Iron Girl Triathlon, and the Maryland Olympic Duathlon. We know the ins and outs of how these events run, and want you to come to us with all your questions. We can outfit you with the right triathlon bicycle, and triathlon swim gear needed to get you fully prepped and race ready!

We want you to have a successful, fun, season, and we will do everything we can to help you reach your goals. We sponsor and work closely with several non-profit organizations that offer training programs and events for enthusiastic athletes who want to become more involved.

Princeton Sports also runs Sunday morning group bike rides every week, now through fall, all levels supported. If you’re interested in learning more about caring for your bike, we recommend attending our spring and summer bicycle clinics. We will teach you general bicycle maintenance like how to clean your drive train and change a flat tire. Check out the information below for information on our community involvement and event details. For a full listing of upcoming event dates, go to our events calendar.

Sunday Morning Group Bike Rides

Group Bike Ride Information

Our Sunday rides leave the shop at 9 am sharp. We recommend getting there at least 15 minutes early to get ready, pump up your tires, use the bathroom, and fill up your water bottle. We will ask you to fill out a waiver the first ride you participate every spring. After that, all you need to do is show up!

The rides are fully supported, all levels welcome. Experienced Princeton Sports cyclists in highly visible blue jerseys are always present, dispersed throughout the group at varying paces to offer support. A Princeton Sports cyclist will always lead the ride to signal and point out directions, and a Princeton Sports cyclist will always sag ride (follow the last rider) so that no one is left behind or lost. The ride is always tailed by a Princeton Sports support van driven by one our friendly mechanics, who is in contact with our cyclists and prepared to make on-the-spot repairs and pick ups.

Depending on the upcoming race, we ride the Columbia Triathlon route (approx 25 mi) or the Iron Girl Triathlon route (approx 18 mi). Rides may be canceled due to inclimate weather, please check our facebook page for status updates if it’s raining.
